Successful Internet Ministry

By Rob Williams

The goal of any ministry is to encourage people to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.  Our goal with internet ministry is to have an increasing number of people develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ by using the tools of the internet. To do this, we view certain roles as necessary for an environment fostering online community.

We see internet ministry success when

  • people come to our network of websites
  • people find relevant content
  • people feel comfortable with the aesthetics of the sites
  • people are able to navigate the sites well
  • the websites function properly
  • the Holy Spirit prompts people
To be successful, we focus on increasing the quantity of visitors to our network of websites, giving each visitor a quality visit, and connecting them into a community by developing online relationships.

Increase Quantity of Visits
We want to bring more people to our sites by achieving high rankings in search engines through:

  • Presenting valuable content
  • Having related sites link to us
Increase Quality of Visits
We want to direct specific groups of people to relevant sites.
We want to have our target audience visit more pages and visit more often.
We want our visitors to have a better experience by clarifying:
  • Our purpose (Who we are)
  • What we have to offer (What we’re about)
  • What we’d like them to do
and by directing them to find:
  • What they want to find
  • What we want them to find

Build Community through Relationships
We want to move people through our site so that they

  • Become a part of a community where it is safe to explore their faith
  • Are able to deepen their relationship with Christ

When a person enters one of our websites, their spiritual journey is somewhere along this arrow (below). We are successful if when they leave our site they have journeyed a little further to the right.
