Information and Instructions for Web Site CreatorsBy Keith SeabournOverviewThe Google Search Appliance has been licensed by Campus Crusade for Christ to provide search capabilities to individual ministries and to the global movement. The Google Search Appliance is combined with an authorization engine developed by the Global Technology Office. This provides the Global ConneXion Search engine and allows all the knowledge in Campus Crusade for Christ to be searched from one easy location. The GCX search engine is available at search.ccci.org and on many Campus Crusade websites. The following instructions will help Campus Crusade web site creators to:

Check GCX Search Manager Community for more details. Keep pages out of the indexIf you don't want a page to be indexed, insert this <meta> tag within your page's <head> tag: <head> This will prevent crawlers (robots) from indexing the page and from following any links from the page. If the page has already been indexed, it will be removed from the index the next time Google crawls the page. You can prevent the pages in a directory from being indexed by restricting access to the directory with a password. If you need to get a page out of the index urgently, enter a request to remove URL. Provide the URL of the page you want removed and indicate whether you want the page suppressed temporarily or permanently.
Put a search box on your siteYou can add a search box to help visitors find content on your site. You can restrict the search to a specified directory or search the entire Stanford web site. The search box will look and behave like this: The visitor can enter a search term and click the Search button; the page will leave your site and display the search results in a formatted page. 1. Insert the following HTML into your web page where you want the search box to appear:
2. Customize the following parameters:
3. Allow users to search "This site only" or "All CCCI" by customizing the blue lines <input type="radio" checked name="sitesearch" value="<yoururl>">This site only 4. You can request a collection and a frontend. A collection is a grouping of websites that provide additional capabilities. A frontend is a display control that allows you to style the returned results to look like your website's presentation. The red values above should be customized for specialized collections and frontends. Some examples of different collection and frontend implementations are available on the search pages of these websites: Crawling scheduleThe search appliance has initially been configured to crawl Campus Crusade websites every few days.
